It is widely accepted that there are eight health promotion strategies. HPS is primarily a community development strategy.
As a community development approach, HPS facilitators support school leaders together with their communities, to identify and address their health, wellbeing and educational priorities.
The HPS community development taxonomy describes the conditions that need to be created for all members of a school community (students, staff and family/whānau) to feel they have agency (the power to influence, actively participate and make decisions). It also shows us what best practice looks like at each level.
