Heart Foundation Workshops
- Time:
- Mon 12 March, 12:00 pm - Fri 16 March, 12:00 pm
To reduce teacher’s planning time, the Heart Foundation would like to offer your school a set of comprehensive inquiry based unit plans for 2012. Developed by Education specialists, these resources show teachers how they can use nutrition education to meet numeracy and literacy standards.
These comprehensive units set out links to the curriculum, achievement objectives and National Standards assessment.
These are aimed at levels 1-4 and are based on the following topics:
- Level 1: Edible Gardens – use your school’s edible garden as the basis of inquiry.
- Level 2 – Food as Fuel – use the 2012 London Olympics and the importance of the sports nutrition to teach key nutrition messages.
- Level 3 – Breakfast is for Champions – raise the awareness of the importance of breakfast at your school.
- Level 4 – Fast Food Sponsorship for Athletes – discuss the influence of athlete’s endorsing fast food.
To receive a free set of resources for your school and learn how these resources can add value to classroom teaching, please register your attendance at the Heart Foundation’s professional development workshops held across the country in week 7 of Term 1 in 2012.
